The performance characteristics of FRP tanks

Invalid date

FRP tank manufacturers produce a non-metallic composite material tank body made by winding resin and glass fiber through microcomputer-controlled machines. Its performance characteristics are also very prominent and have always been widely favored by users.

1. Lightweight and high strength: The relative density of FRP steel tanks is between 1.5 and 2.0, only 1/4 to 1/5 of that of carbon steel. However, its tensile strength is close to or even exceeds that of carbon steel, and its specific strength can be compared with that of high-grade alloy steel. Therefore, it has achieved remarkable results in applications such as aviation, rockets, spacecraft, high-pressure vessels, and other products that require weight reduction. The tensile, bending and compressive strengths of certain epoxy FRP can all reach over 400Mpa.

2. Good corrosion resistance: FRP is an excellent corrosion-resistant material, capable of withstanding the atmosphere, water, and general concentrations of acids, alkalis, salts, as well as various oils and solvents. It has been applied to all aspects of chemical anti-corrosion and is gradually replacing carbon steel, stainless steel, wood, non-ferrous metals, etc.

3. Good electrical performance: FRP tanks are excellent insulating materials and are used to make insulators. It can still maintain good dielectric properties at high frequencies. It has good microwave permeability and has been widely used in radar radomes.

4. Excellent processability: The forming process can be flexibly selected according to the shape, technical requirements, application and quantity of the product. The process is simple and can be formed in one go, with outstanding economic benefits. Especially for products with complex shapes and small quantities that are difficult to form, its technological superiority is more prominent.

The assembly work of FRP tanks

FRP tanks have great design flexibility and excellent tank wall structure performance. Fiber-wound FRP can change the resin system or reinforcing materials to rapidly adjust the physical and chemical properties of FRP tanks and non-standard devices to meet the needs of different media and working conditions. Today, I would like to share with you the assembly work of FRP tanks

1. Demolish the cured head, cut it to the size specified in the design document, then hoist it to the top of the mold. Use short-cut felt to hand lay the corners of the cylinder to achieve seamless connection between the head and the cylinder.

2. Fabrication of FRP tank bottoms. The bottom end caps of the tank are fabricated on a flat ground reinforced with cement and steel bars, with a diameter larger than that of the tank to facilitate the reinforcement of the external corners of the tank. The fabrication of FRP tank bottoms can be carried out alternately with the winding of the cylinder body to shorten the construction period.

3. Process inspection. Check whether there are bubbles and white spots on the upper and lower heads. Deal with any problems in time.
