Introduction to Valve Islands

2017-01-23

Brief Description: The combination of valve island technology and fieldbus technology not only makes the wiring of electrically controlled valves easy but also greatly simplifies the debugging, performance testing, diagnosis, and maintenance of complex systems. By leveraging the high-level integrated information system of fieldbus, the advantages of both are fully exploited, presenting a broad application prospect.
Valve islands are the new generation of pneumatic-electric integrated control components. They have evolved from the initial multi-pin interface valve islands to fieldbus valve islands, and then to programmable valve islands and modular valve islands. The integration of valve island technology and fieldbus technology not only ensures the ease of wiring for electrically controlled valves but also significantly simplifies the debugging, performance testing, diagnosis, and maintenance of complex systems. With the help of the high-level integrated information system of fieldbus, the advantages of both are fully exploited, presenting a broad application prospect.
The output control signals and input signals of the programmable controller are connected to the valve island through a multi-core cable with a multi-pin plug, while the signals from sensors are connected to the electrical signal input port of the valve island via cables. Therefore, the interface between the programmable controller and the electrically controlled valves and sensor input signals is simplified to just one multi-pin plug and one multi-core cable. Compared with the traditional control system, the use of multi-pin interface valve islands eliminates the need for junction boxes. At the same time, all electrical signal processing and protection functions (such as polarity protection, photoelectric isolation, waterproofing, etc.) are implemented on the valve island.
