General Description
This variety features good disease resistance, vigorous growth and wide adaptability. It is an early-to-mid-maturing variety, with fruit setting at approximately the 14th node. The commercial pumpkins are dark green with light yellow spots, having thick flesh with a fragrant, sweet and crisp taste, and excellent eating quality. The average single fruit weight ranges from 1–1.5 kg, and the variety is suitable for long-distance transportation and storage. Under normal climatic conditions and intensive management, the yield can reach 1000–2000 kg per mu (1 mu ≈ 0.0667 hectares).
Cultivation Measures
Cultivation is feasible in both spring and autumn, with spring sowing as the primary option. The recommended planting density is around 600 plants per mu in open fields. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, with increased amounts of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Pay attention to the prevention and control of fusarium wilt, powdery mildew and gummy stem blight; also guard against aphids, soil-borne pests, wireworms and black cutworms.
Suitable Planting Areas & Seasons
It is suitable for cultivation across China under optimal growth temperatures of 13–30°C. Under suitable temperature conditions, the recommended sowing periods are as follows:
- Spring: February 15th to March 15th
- Autumn: July 20th to August 15th
For regions including Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan, the sowing periods are February 15th to March 15th (spring) and July 20th to August 15th (autumn), with spring sowing preferred.For regions including Guizhou, Henan, Anhui, Zhejiang and Shanghai, the sowing periods are March 15th to April 15th (spring) and July 1st to August 10th (autumn), with spring sowing preferred.
