Sorbitan Monolaurate

II. Molecular weight: 430.61
III. Properties: At room temperature, it is a pale yellow granular solid. Above its melting point, it is soluble in ethanol and toluene; it is insoluble in cold water but dispersible in warm water; it is soluble (with slight cloudiness) in mineral oil and ethyl acetate at temperatures above 50°C. Its melting point is 54–56°C. It possesses emulsifying, stabilising and defoaming properties; it is a W/O-type emulsifier with an HLB value of 4.7.
V. Uses: May be used in foodstuffs as an emulsifier; also used as a primary emulsifier in the cosmetics and textile industries, typically in combination with Tween 60.
VI. Packaging: Composite bags lined with a PE inner liner, 25 kg per bag.
VII. Storage and Transport: Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place; do not store together with harmful substances.
