Anton Paar microwave digestion instrument Multiwave series
Multiwave 7101 – Super microwave digestion for general applications, combined with a laboratory cooling circulator for additional savings.
Multiwave 7301 - an all-round super microwave digestion instrument, inheriting the advantages of Multiwave 7000 and newly upgraded.
Multiwave 7501 – Application-specific solutions for any challenge.
Features:
Shorter digestion time
The use of plug-in sample tube caps minimizes preparation time, the automatic shut-off program reduces processing steps, the 2000W power enables rapid heating, and the integrated water cooling shortens the cooling process.
Stronger digestion ability
The unique pre-pressurized design and working conditions of up to 300oC and 200Bar ensure excellent digestion results for a variety of samples. Multiwave 7X01 provides sufficient space to digest such samples without being restricted by the temperature or pressure limits of the system.

Can digest most types of samples
- Because of its stronger digestion capacity, Multiwave 7X01 microwave digestion instrument can digest most types of samples such as food, environment, polymers, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, geology, chemistry and petrochemicals.
- Simultaneous sample processing can be performed using completely different samples and different reaction mixtures in the same run. No more sample sorting as the pressurized seal prevents liquids from boiling during digestion, eliminating cross-contamination.
- Anton Paar's Multiwave 7X01 microwave digestion instrument can handle high sample volumes (≥0.5 g) and low sample volumes (≤0.1 g), as well as high sampling volumes (≥50 mL) and low sampling volumes (≤100 µL).
- All common digestion acids can be used in pressure-sealed glass, quartz or PTFE-TFM sample tubes as well as in closed quartz tubes (e.g. for the determination of osmium).
- Digestion of floating samples can be accelerated by stirring the sample.
High Sampling Volume and High Throughput Stents
The sampling volume of up to 4g meets your digestion needs for "low-content" samples. Combined with the 24-position rack, it can achieve unparalleled sample processing capacity.
Low running costs
The super microwave is sealed with an inserted tube cover and automatically adds nitrogen for pressure sealing. Therefore, any type of sample tube can be used, including economical thin-walled quartz tubes, PTFE-TFM, and disposable sample tubes, ensuring low usage costs.
Superior security
High temperature, high pressure, strong acid and microwave sealed digestion of samples, safety is crucial. Anton Paar's wide range of active and passive safety functions ensure the safety of equipment systems, operators and the surrounding environment in any situation.
Multiwave 70X1 super microwave digestion instrument has a wide range of applications
Suitable for digestion of food, environmental, polymer, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, geological, chemical and petrochemical samples. In a pressurized digestion chamber (PDC), samples can be processed simultaneously in the same run using completely different samples and different reaction mixtures. No more sample sorting. The pressurized seal prevents liquids from boiling during digestion, thereby eliminating cross-contamination.
Application:
- Pharmaceutical: Heavy metal detection in pharmaceutical packaging materials and raw materials
- Environmental protection: analysis of heavy metals in soil and water
- Agriculture: Detection of heavy metal residues in agricultural products
- Food: Analysis of heavy metals in infant food and feed
- Materials: Pretreatment of highly cross-linked resin, ceramics, zirconia and other materials
Working principle
The Anton Paar Multiwave 7101/7301/7501 Super Microwave Digester operates based on its unique Pre-Pressurized Digestion Chamber (PDC) technology, achieving efficient and safe sample digestion through several key steps:
1. Pre-Pressurization Technology
Before microwave heating begins, the entire digestion chamber is pressurized with nitrogen, raising the boiling point of the liquid within the sample tube. This results in:
- Higher reaction temperatures (up to 300°C)
- Higher reaction pressures (up to 199 bar)
This allows for the rapid and thorough decomposition of difficult-to-digest samples (such as ceramics and polymers) that traditional microwave digesters cannot handle.

2. High-Power Microwave Source
- A 2000W single magnetron microwave source ensures rapid and uniform heating.
- Microwave energy is evenly distributed through the industrial-grade furnace cavity, achieving temperature control stability of ±0.3°C and temperature measurement accuracy of 0.1°C.
3. Closed-Loop Digestion Reaction
- Each digestion tube features an insert-type cap for a sealed design and is automatically pressurized with nitrogen.
- Supports various reaction tube materials: quartz, PTFE-TFM, and disposable sample tubes.
- Uses different volume holders (e.g., 5-position 80ml, 24-position 8ml, 41-position 4.5ml, etc.) to meet various throughput requirements.
4. Integrated Cooling System
- Equipped with external/internal cooling devices to accelerate the cooling rate of digested samples and improve experimental efficiency.
5. Safety Design
- Multiple active and passive safety protection mechanisms ensure the safety of operators and equipment under high temperature and pressure.
- Including pressure sensors, over-temperature protection, and chamber seal detection.
6. No Sample Sorting Required
- Utilizing PDC technology, different types of samples, different acid systems, and different sample volumes can be processed simultaneously in a single run, eliminating the need for sorting and simplifying the experimental process.
