A 5,000-litre three-vessel beer mashing system typically consists of a boil-off kettle, a mash lauter tun and a whirlpool. The lauter-whirlpool vessel is actually composed of two layers: the upper layer serves as the lauter tun, whilst the lower layer functions as the whirlpool. This configuration is commonly found in pubs and restaurants.

Advantages of the 5,000-litre three-vessel beer mashing system:

① Compared to a three-vessel mashing system, it occupies a smaller overall footprint.

② The steam jacket generally has a larger heating surface area, resulting in rapid heating.

③ The lauter tun is positioned above the whirlpool, enabling natural filtration (where wort is filtered by gravity). This ensures rapid filtration and high wort clarity, and even in the event of operational errors, it does not cause deformation of the lauter screen.

④ The lauter tun is designed as a vertical cylindrical vessel. As it is a dedicated lauter tun, it features a tangential rotation design, resulting in effective separation of spent grain from hot trub.

⑤ During wort filtration, the boil kettle can prepare the rinse water, allowing simultaneous rinsing. This reduces mashing time by 30–50 minutes, offering higher utilisation than a two-vessel mashing system.

⑥ Generally, two batches can be brewed in a single day. If you are prepared to work late into the night, you can brew 3–4 batches daily. During peak beer sales periods, you can produce more beer in a shorter timeframe.

The main drawbacks of the 5,000-litre three-vessel beer mashing system are:

① Compared to traditional two-vessel mashing equipment, the equipment is generally taller, which places certain requirements on the available floor space.

② Compared to traditional two-vessel mashing equipment, the capital investment is higher.
